Christmas in Ripponden
The countdown has begun for the brightest and best ever Christmas in Ripponden. Plans are well underway for the largest Christmas event the village has ever seen – a Christmas market complete with animals, live music and stalls galore full of festive fare.
Ripponden Festival Group is working together with St Bartholomew’s Church to host this full day of activity on Saturday 3rd December, with all proceeds going towards permanently floodlighting the church.
Stalls will be both inside the church and outside, spilling onto the car park opposite and in front of The Old Bridge Inn. The range of goods available will include arts and crafts, artisan food, gifts, local wines and much more. Meanwhile, Ripponden will be open for business too. All shops and businesses are competing in a ‘Best Christmas Window’ competition. Visitors to the market will be encouraged to go around the village and judge the shop windows, the winner of which will be announced at the market.
Local school choirs are also being encouraged to participate in a carol competition, performing alongside local musicians and groups to add a festive feel to the day. Donkeys and reindeer, a barrel organ and Christmas lighting throughout the market will complement the festive feel and, to demonstrate how effective lighting the church will be, the spire will be temporarily floodlit throughout the event.
Look out for posters and leaflets around the village advertising the event. In the meantime, if you’d like further information log onto www.rippondenfestival.co.uk.
